  • Paul C. Pflueger, MD

    Orthopedic Surgeon

“I chose orthopaedics because I prefer interacting with a wide variety of patients, from the young to the elderly, in a way that allows me to improve their quality of life. I enjoy helping patients get better, get stronger and have less pain. I enjoy the opportunity to return patients to their pre-injury level of activity, whether it’s golf, tennis, hiking or whatever their leisure or sport activity may be.” “For me, the patient always comes first. Most patients have already done extensive research into their condition prior to seeing me. I believe that an interactive approach with patients will lead us to a mutually agreed upon treatment plan. I hope to give my patients the opportunity for an improved quality of life with less pain, better function and improved outlook for their future.” In his free time, Dr. Pflueger supports Yavapai Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Arizona, the YMCA and Yavapai Regional Medical Center. He believes in exercise and personal fitness, and his hobbies include exercise, fly-fishing, woodworking and family activities. • W. Lee Richardson, MD

    Orthopedic Surgeon

“I became interested in orthopaedics after I sustained an injury as a high-school athlete. My interest in helping others combined perfectly with my fascination for how the human body functions. I enjoy helping my patients regain their independence and ability to interact with the world around them by treating their hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions.” “Every patient is different. I explain conditions and situations fully to each patient and involve them in the decision-making process. Most patients have a pretty good idea what their problem is and how it is affecting their life. My job is to guide them to the best solution for their particular situation. I help my patients understand their condition so that together, we can make it better.” In his free time, Dr. Richardson enjoys being with his family and playing basketball. He is also involved in his children’s athletic pursuits and an active member of his church. • Evan N. Simonson, DPM

    Doctor of Podiatric Medicine

“Early in my medical experience, I saw a need for quality, evidence-based foot, and ankle surgeons. Keeping patients active and on their feet is, and always has been, a rewarding aspect of my field. What I most enjoy is the patients. Period. I love the academic side of my job, but what gets me up in the morning is the satisfaction and relief I can provide for those I treat.” “I prefer giving patients options and educating them about the benefits and potential risks of each treatment. Patients have different goals, so I tailor my treatments to best fit their needs and expectations. I hope to give them peace of mind. I can very often provide relief from pain, but I also want them to know they are making the right decision for their personal health. I often have a treatment in mind that will provide excellent results, but if the patient has other priorities, there are many other options that may provide relief.” In his free time, Dr. Simonson enjoys mountain biking, hiking, camping, cooking, woodworking, metalwork, reading, and travel. He enjoys spending time with his three daughters and wife. Board-Certified: American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery Residency: Foot and Ankle Surgery, Wheaton Franciscan St. Joseph Hospital, Milwaukee, WI DPM: Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science, North Chicago, IL Member: American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association

  • Kyle Chun, MD

    Orthopedic Surgeon

Our lives rarely turn out the way we expect them to. This is perhaps no more apparent to me than when I look back at the road God has led my family down, only to see His hand moving us through this maze of life. I was born and raised in the small plantation town of Wahiawa, Hawaii – the town where I thought I’d grow old and die. I graduated from our local public school, then attended the University of Hawaii on an academic scholarship. I somehow made the cut on UH’s men’s swim team, and although the pain of this commitment was significant, the fruit of this labor was well worth it – God sent me my wife Lauren from within the University of Hawaii Athletic Department via the Women’s Volleyball program. I began medical school at the University of Hawaii and Lauren worked as a public-school teacher, putting me through school, until I graduated in 2008. After graduation, Lauren and I moved to Seattle, Washington for my orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center, widely regarded as one of our nation’s most elite and highest-ranked orthopedic surgery programs. We lived in the pacific NW from 2008 – 2013 and had all three of our children while there. After completing residency, God decided to dry us out a bit and sent us south to Los Angeles, California for sub-specialty fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the world-famous Southern California Orthopedic Institute, more widely known as “SCOI.” While there, I was sub-specialty trained in the most cutting-edge techniques in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle, and was able to meet and treat multiple professional athletes from the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB. Finally, in 2014, I breathed a sigh of relief that my training was over (14 years since finishing high school!). I brought my family home and joined Orthopedic Associates of Hawaii as an assistant clinical professor with the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. God and our community blessed us with a blossoming practice and some of the best patients I could ask for. What more could we want? Well, no sooner than we asked that question did God start changing our hearts about our future. We were unable to find a stable church community for our kids; the education systems, both public and private, did not fully align with the values we held paramount; and our communities became overrun by poverty, crime, and homelessness. After years of prayer, patience, and searching, God led us out of Hawaii in 2022 and into the community of Prescott, AZ. I joined Granite Orthopaedics in the winter of 2022/2023 and am working to build a high-level, evidence-based sports medicine practice in this community. I look forward to building relationships within the athletic and school communities here in central Arizona and am hopeful that our family can be a blessing to anyone in need. Thank you for accepting us in your great town, and God bless. More about Dr. Chun: Dr. Chun specializes in advanced arthroscopic procedures aimed at treating injuries of the shoulder, knee, hip, and ankle. His subspecialty training in sports medicine and arthroscopy have allowed him to fine-tune his treatment of both the high-level athlete and weekend-warrior. Additionally, he has a special interest in complex reconstructions of the shoulder girdle to include total and reverse shoulder arthroplasty, fracture care, and augmented biological reconstructions of the rotator cuff. Lastly, given his expertise in the sports medicine realm, Dr. Chun provides non-surgical biologic treatments for various disorders with Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP), allogenic growth factor treatment, and stem cell treatments. Dr. Chun has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has also presented his research at multiple national scientific meetings over the course of his training. He remains active in the research realm and continues to participate in technological advancements in the field. Outside of work, Dr. Chun and his wife Lauren spend time raising their three children Ezekiel, Eve, and Daniel. In his free time, Dr. Chun enjoys archery hunting and learning how to raise farm animals.
